{"id":271,"date":"2022-07-15T09:48:02","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T14:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pctk.jhu.edu\/?p=271"},"modified":"2022-07-15T09:48:02","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T14:48:02","slug":"pcp-paper-published-in-medical-physics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pctk.jhu.edu\/index.php\/2022\/07\/15\/pcp-paper-published-in-medical-physics\/","title":{"rendered":"PCP paper published in Medical Physics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Congrats to Ken Taguchi and colleagues on the publication of their journal paper entitled, &#8220;Model-based pulse pileup and charge sharing compensation for photon counting detectors: A simulation study.&#8221; The model-based algorithm is called PCP for <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">P<\/span><\/strong>ulse-pileup and <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C<\/span><\/strong>harge sharing com<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">P<\/span><\/strong>ensation. <a href=\"https:\/\/aapm.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/mp.15779\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/aapm.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/mp.15779\">The paper can be accessed from here<\/a> (it is an open access, thanks to JHU). <br><br>The main contribution of this paper is as follows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(1) This is the first model-based method to compensate for both charge sharing and pulse pileup simultaneously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) The study showed that 15% count-loss would result in significant biases when the spectral distortion due to pulse pileup is left uncorrected for.
